Kidkraft makes several wooden train tables that come with complete train sets. They range in price from around $100-190 on Amazon.com. The ideal age range for most Kidkraft wooden train tables is from 3-8. Some of them might interest older children, but most of them contain small pieces that could be a choking hazard for children under three. One exception is the Kidkraft Circo train table, which is recommended for ages two and up.
Each Kidkraft train table is made of wood and comes unassembled. You have to put it together yourself, so try not to wait until Christmas Eve to buy it. Not only do you have to put the table together, but the train set will also need to be set up, and there are quite a few pieces so that will take some time. Here is an overview of some of the wooden Kidkraft train tables that are available:
Metropolis: The Kidkraft boys Metropolis train table set depicts a bustling city, complete with a helipad and helicopter, a gas station, and a construction site with a crane.
Waterfall Mountain: The Waterfall Mountain train table has a road that passes through two tunnels in a mountain that has waterfalls running over it. There is an airport with an airplane and a big, red suspension bridge.
Ride Around: The Ride Around set has a construction site with a bulldozer, a pond with a boat, a red bridge, a helipad with helicopter, and a farm complete with a farmer and three farm animals.
Rising City: The Kidkraft Rising City wooden train table has a track that loops around and up and makes a large, elevated circuit around the table. Some of the highlights of this set are the helicopter and airplane, the basketball court, and of course, the train.
Roundhouse: The limited edition Roundhouse train table and set from Kidkraft has a red, double-decker bridge that passes over a lake. There is also a coal mine with a crane. The highlight of the set is the roundtable, which allows kids to rotate the cars and park each one in a separate bay in the roundtable garage.
The train sets that come with the wooden Kidkraft train tables are all people-powered, so there are no electronic components to worry about. Your child controls the play by pushing the train and other vehicles around the track. Each set contains at least three or four different areas, so the options for creative play are practically unlimited. No matter which Kidkraft train table you choose for your child, it will make their Christmas one they will never forget.
